Nearby Share updates and makes sharing easier

Nearby Share is Google’s answer to Apple’s AirDrop. It is a convenient way for Android and Chrome OS users to share files with other devices. The function uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to send photos, video and so on.

Currently, when sharing a file with someone using nearby sharing, the other person must approve the request for sharing. But soon there will be the opportunity to share quickly files without having to approve sharing.

Nearby Share’s “self-share” mode will let you quickly share files to other devices signed into the same Google account without needing to approve the share.

This hasn’t rolled out yet from what I can see, but it’s present in the latest version of Google Play Services. pic.twitter.com/wdtxoiE2oz

In fact, thanks to the latest updates, the files will be automatically downloaded to the other device. The new mode is present in the latest version of Google Play Services, but is not yet accessible to the public.
