Xiaomi reimburses those who bought their first smartphone

Xiaomi’s first smartphone, the I 1was launched in the Chinese market way back 2011. The first model was definitely a point of reference for the company, offering a great device at an affordable price, almost three years earlier that OnePlus did the same.

Now, Xiaomi has announced that will grant refunds to all those who pre-ordered and then bought the Mi 1. According to Xiaomi, it initially sold 184,600 units at 1,999 yuan (€ 263), so 370 million yuan, or 48 million of euros today.

The company’s post on Weibo states that this refund takes the form of online store credit, obviously not a cash refund. However, it is a very interesting way for a company to recognize its early consumers. With the coupon you will not be able to buy a top of the Xiaomi range, but certainly devices like Redmi Note 10 Pro and Poco X3 Pro can be a great solution. Alternatively, the company also offers a number of gadget and wearable devices.
