Wii U: 400 thousand consoles sold in one week in the US

Wii U: 400 thousand consoles sold in one week in the US

They have been revealed sales data relating to the last week regarding the release of Nintendo’s Wii Uthe new console recently launched in North America.

During the last 7 days, Nintendo sold altogether 700,000 consoles on the US marketand of these about 400,000 of Wii U’s ownwhile the others 300,000 units refer to the traditional Wii.

What can I say, the Wii holds up very wellin fact, the sale of units between the two products is not very distant, even if, as also referred to by the volcanic Reggie Fils-Aimenumber one of Nintendo America, the Wii U sold out almost instantlyrunning out of the first stocks supplied by Nintendo to the shops.

Recall that in 2006 when the Wii was launched, 600,000 units were sold in the same time interval, but it should be emphasized that the first Wii U supply was not particularly large, and consequently the sell-out in stores has had a heavy impact during this first week of sales.

To be honest the units sold by Nintendo have been more than 1.2 million units only in the last week.

In fact, in addition to the 400,000 units of the Wii U and the 300,000 of the Wii, 250,000 were sold 3DS and 275,000 DS.

The president of Nintendo division America said:

“The stocks of Wii U are practically exhausted and we are doing our best to restock the retailers.”

With regard to sales forecaststhe number one of Nintendo recognized the uniqueness of the Wii:

“Wii was a unique phenomenon. We weren’t able to walk into a store and buy one until spring 2009. We’ve learned a lot of lessons since then and this time we’re stocking retailers much faster. Our goal is to have more consoles available for purchase ”.

To discover the Wii U also in Italywe just have to wait a few more days: the November 30 is the expected and fateful date scheduled for debut of the Nintendo console in our country.
