Ubisoft: We will be supporting oldgen consoles for several years

Ubisoft makes a very interesting statement in which he says he wants to continue producing oldegen console titles for several more years before devoting himself completely to the nextgen.

We will support Xbox360 and PS3 for many years

We want to offer everyone the chance to play our new titles, which is why we will continue to support the console oldgen. Black Flag was the first title in the Assassin’s Creed series to land on new generation consoles but it was also launched on the old ones for the motivation provided. We do not consider it a cross-gen title as it presents some tricks and mechanics designed for the nextgen.

It’s about choosing. When a developer creates a game, he is faced with the decision whether to bring the title only to nextgen or even oldgen. It is always necessary to decide which of the two versions will act as a reference point. It may happen that the oldgen version is more neglected than the nextgen, but to say that a title on oldgen is not developable due to hardware limitations would give the company a bad image.

That’s it, Ubisoft will continue to support the old generation consoles for many more years, after all not all consumers have enough money to upgrade to the nextgen don’t you think?
