The 10 technology challenges for the nearest future
The technology industry aspires to make our lives more comfortable, but to do so, it needs certain stimuli demanded by society. That is why we bring you a selection of issues that you will have to bet on for years to come.
Technology is one more tool available to human beings to improve their lives. In this order of things, society and life on the planet entail a series of problems and concerns that technology must address by positioning itself as a precise and advanced tool for the world population.
We bring you, under this elemental premise, the 10 challenges that any technological product will have to aspire to in the nearest future:
1. Store carbon dioxide
Climate change is a fact confirmed by the scientific community. Therefore, the scientists in charge of studying it in depth are trying, by all means, slow down the process of global warming.
One of the issues that is gaining more strength is that of “suck” carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. What remains to be seen is the method that would be used, in addition to where could such an amount of CO2 be stored.
2. Energy storage
Renewable energies happen to be the most immediate future to put an end to fossil fuels. But, How to store the energy it generates on a global scale? This fact, which has already been established as a very expensive issue due to the amount of battery it would need, is being studied very carefully.
In fact, several groups of world scientists are researching the department store network in order to store such an amount of energy.
3. A universal flu vaccine
Although it may seem like an isolated event, the flu is still one of the diseases that causes the most deaths throughout the year. Promoting research in order to find a biological solution to this disease would be the first step for society to increase its quality of life thanks to technology, and with it, the progress of medicine within the field of epidemics.
4. Alzheimer’s Treatment
Alzheimer’s is one of the most studied diseases, and despite everything, is one of the least known. Many times, it is even taken as just another dementia. Therefore, a research injection into the field of diseases that affect the human brain would be welcome for future generations that have to deal with it.
5. Ocean Cleanup
The oceanic world is being invaded by plastic, it is a fact. Hence, cleaning the ocean is one of the most important measures when establishing a new anti pollution calendar. Mainly due to the huge amount of plastics that are floating on the Pacific right now; which, according to experts, it is the same size as France.
6. Seawater desalination
Fresh water makes up a very low percentage of the total water in the world. This, added to the possible future droughts due to climate change, means that the action of desalinating seawater to make it drinkable is a primary issue.
In countries like Israel, the desalination infrastructure is highly developed, but it is very expensive, so it is important to try to adjust the cost to the social dimension that the application implies for the world.
7. Safety in driverless cars
Despite the fact that it is not yet common to see autonomous cars circulating on the roads, there are already many initiatives that are being taken to incorporate them on a regular basis. It would therefore entail a near total reduction in road fatalitiesa scourge of industrialized societies.
But it will take time, mainly due to the circulatory chaos of the big cities that often contravene mechanized routes for which they are willing thanks to technology.
8. Built in artificial intelligence
Recently, Boston Dynamics has designed some dog shaped robots, but in their demonstration they were seen to have a mechanical intelligence, not organic.
Therefore, and using these example robots, the application of artificial intelligence to autonomous robots could be a new step forward for the robotics industry.
9. Earthquake prediction
Although we have now gone a few years without any relatively large natural catastrophes (pending official figures on the floods in Mozambique), the question of earthquakes is an important one because it can cause serious tidal waves. Therefore predicting them will be one of the most important technological bets of the 21st century.
10. Know the brain in depth
In line with Alzheimer’s research, the fact of knowing in depth the human brain capacities can lead to an improvement in the search for progressing the intellectual levels of people. In addition to promote the study of mental illness.
