Someone created an Android smartphone with a Lightning port

A enterprising engineer has plugged into a USB-C port on an iPhone late last year, making it a welcome upgrade over Apple’s Lightning connector. Now, this same engineer has gone the other way.

Kenny Pillonel has posted a video showing what he calls the first Android phone with a Lightning port, adding the connector to a Samsung Galaxy A51. The technician added that the port actually supports charging and data transfer.

Pillonel claimed than bringing a Lightning port on an Android phone it was easier of his iPhone USB-C project. However, the engineer realized how Apple’s cables were a challenge as they only charge devices Apple. So it essentially had to trick the cables into thinking the Galaxy A51 was a smartphone with an apple.
