Halo Infinite: new engine gives unprecedented possibilities, says 343 Industries
Halo: Infinite must be one of the main titles of the Microsoft for the start of the next generation of consoles, so it’s no surprise that the developers have created a new engine for the next Master Chief adventure. In a recent video, 343 Industries spoke about how the game engine, called Slipspace, has been essential to the project and the creators.
According to the director of the franchise, Frank O’Connor, more than being powerful, Slipspace facilitates the work of developers. “We had to create an engine that was more powerful for next generation development, but also more agile, so that creators and engineers can work more easily and faster. This technical foundation is vital to building a platform for Halo’s future, ”he explained.

David Berger, the engineering director, says that the engine allows the team to do things that were previously impossible: “You need to make tools to be able to do new functions that were not planned before. You have to give content creators space to develop ideas outside of that. ”
“Designers can really tackle a problem and prototype something much faster than was possible before,” agreed Tom French, director of multiplayer for the franchise.

Halo: Infinite should be one of the launch titles for the Xbox Series X, still in 2020. The game will also arrive on PC and Xbox One.
