Google working on new battery technology

The topic is always hot, beyond the technological progress, the super processors, the ram memory and the increasingly resolute screens, the problem remains there: the batteries. Also Google is active in the sector, let’s see what happens.

It will be a technological limitation, a choice of manufacturers or any other reason that comes into your head, the fact is that the battery is a repeated problem that, even today in 2015, continues to manifest itself in the mobile sector, regardless of the specific smartphone manufacturer. During the Mobile World Congress last month, meeting point of mobile technology and more, we also dedicated an editorial on the subject.

The world of research has been working on this question for some time, we have seen the ideas of Stanford University, that of SolidEnergy, and many – really – others. It certainly cannot be said that the research was doing nothing about it, far from it. Among the countless workshops focused on the subject, there is obviously also that of Google Xand the confirmation comes directly from the Wall Street Journal:

At Google, Dr. Bhardwaj’s group is trying to advance current lithium-ion technology and the cutting-edge solid-state batteries for consumer devices, such as Glass and Google’s glucose-measuring contact lens, according to the people familiar with the matter.

It is not clear the technology or the composition of the batteries being tested in the Google X lab, what is certain, however, is that these will certainly be tested and then eventually adopted in the next generations of mobile devices, such as smartphones, wearables, but also the electronic nanoparticles that can be implanted in the human body.

Unfortunately the details about it end here but, impatient to receive more information, we are really pleased to hear that even important companies such as Google they are active with determination in sectors where the need for renewal is really felt.
