Google Play Store will soon receive new Material You buttons
Material You is Google’s latest design language for Android, Chrome OS, Wear OS and beyond. Over the past few months, we’ve seen Google slowly but steadily update many of its own popular apps with the Material You elements.
The Google Play Store received a partial redesign in October, bringing a pill-shaped search bar, an updated bottom navigation bar, and dynamic color themes to Android 12. Now Google is preparing another redesign for the Play Store that will soon bring Material You buttons to the app. 9to5Google identified evidence of an upcoming redesign for the Play Store.
The redesign introduces a new style of buttons, replacing the current rectangular with corners rounded with pill shaped buttons in line with Material You design principles.
The new style has not yet been implemented for users. Google Play Store has collected several new features and improvements in recent monthsincluding a new Offer tab in the bottom bar, an iOS-style installation progress indicator for apps, and more.
