Google: an investigation into commercial practices relating to the search engine has been launched in Canada

After the European Union and the Federal Trade Commission, also the Canada seems to join the long line of institutions that have launched an investigation into commercial practices relating to Google search engine. The Financial Post reports the news regarding the Canada Competition Bureau, an agency that aims to ensure competition in the market, which told Google that it has opened an investigation into the company’s shares in the Candidate market.

At the moment it is not clear which service is targeted by the agency, however, according to reports from the Financial Post, the focus of the investigation should be the search engine business practices; or the already discussed actions that, apparently, Google would implement in the results of its engine. In fact, we recall that it was accused of having prevented the competitors from being displayed in the first positions following searches carried out by users; in this way they would be obscured to favor other services and prevent users from accessing them.

For its part, Google, after being under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission and the European Union, says through its spokesperson Leslie Church that “we will work in cooperation with the office to answer all their questions”.
