Gamestop against reducing the cost of digital games

Tony Bartel, president of one of the most popular video game chains in the world that in this period is not doing very well (obviously we are talking about Gamestop), he said in his recent statement that he is opposed to reducing the cost of digital games.

Gamestop: Digital have the same value as a physical

At Gamestop, we want to make sure that the gaming industry doesn’t make the same mistakes as the music or cinema industry. The value of a digital game is identical to the physical one. Industry members should work together on pricing policy to make sure they stay the same, making the right profits and bringing great innovations to this industry. Most digital products are supplied to gamers in a bundle with hardware at no cost to consumers.

According to this joker, digital games should cost as much as RETAIL ones. Personally I think it is a huge beep as the digital game, even if it offers the same identical contents, does not have a case, disc, booklet, it is certainly not collectible so according to my personal consideration it should cost at least half, but you know that these miracles only happen on Steam or on online shops that sell PC game keys.

What do you think of the words of the Gamestop president? Are you for or against the excessive cost of a digital game? Do you really believe that a retail and a digital game have the same value?
