Facebook: more than a billion active users per day from mobile

Virtually everyone, or almost everyone, has a Facebook account: when we know a person instead of a number, the habit of asking “are you on Facebook?” But what are the numbers behind the blue social network?

Facebook revealed in its report that as of June 30th there have been more than 1.7 billion monthly active users (MAU) with an annual increase of 15% and more than 1.57 billion monthly active mobile users.

But the numbers do not stop there: the social network giant has largely exceeded the threshold of 1 billion daily active users (DAU) and is preparing to exceed the billion monthly active users who surf only from mobile.

As you can see, roughly a year ago, Facebook was halfway to the billion, and that milestone will almost certainly be largely surpassed in the next quarter given the growing trend in user numbers.

But the number of active users isn’t the only thing that’s skyrocketing: Zuckerberg’s social network has seen its profit rise to 2.06 billion dollars.

Despite this vertical growth, Mark Zuckerberg remains cautious explaining that Facebook will continue to grow and expand in areas that will be increasingly integrated with user content.

In fact, Facebook is focusing more and more on video content, as evidenced by the recent introduction of streaming and 360-degree videos.

With more than a billion people active every day, these changes can significantly affect the way we interact with others. What do you think of this eventual transition into a video-centric social network?
