Employee training, technology as the basis for changing the future
It is a fact that everything goes very fast. And that what used to be immovable, today is fickle and changes every two times three. professionals today they will never leave the formation. Or they shouldn’t. A price to pay for always stay up to date in your area, sector or in the company for which you work. And here, the companies have a lot to say with the employee training. Why look for talent abroad if you have it there. You just have to teach him to use the new tools he needs to do his job. Vocational training as an opportunity.
Companies have sometimes seen training for employees as a mere formality. But it is an ideal opportunity to Make a Difference. Assuming that the hired professionals meet the demands of their job, over time it is convenient to provide them with the opportunity to update your knowledge to give the best. Something we can do on our own or that the company can do. For the benefit of the employee and herself.
Education for children and young people is in a moment of transition in which technology is more and more present. And in training for employees the same thing happens. What subject of study and as a tool to facilitate your academic purposes. Face to face classes, online courses, coaching and mentoring, use of Big Data applied to education…
Learn with (and from) Big Data
The project that has been carried out since 2018 in the Data University of BBVA with the close collaboration of Telephone It is a clear example of the two faces of technology applied to education. On this occasion, Big Data, one of the technologies that will have the greatest impact in the coming years on companies of any size and sector. Technology that is already being applied with great results.
Physically, the Data University is located on the premises of BBVA Campus, in Alcobendas, Madrid. But its scope goes further thanks to the possibility of taking online courses and distance training at more than 2,000 people in seven different countries. All this thanks to the use of the technology available to the client who is going to receive the course, whether they are individuals or companies.
Through Artificial intelligence, the phase prior to the training itself is carried out. Consider what type of training each employee requires, hereinafter a student. See if you meet the necessary requirements to attend the training that you want to assign, face to face or virtually. And finally make a homogeneous student body who can work as a team during the course. It is useless to provide employees with training that they are not going to use or for which they are not prepared. Or put another way, customize training for employees even before giving such training.
From here, imparting training requires different strategies, formats and methodologies. As in the previous case, it will depend on what should the employee learn, your availability, the time available, the context of the company in which you are, etc. The ultimate purpose, that the training be adequate, in physical or virtual classroombe practical and aligned with what the customer expects.
And along with the training itself, other strategies are used to improve the result. On the one hand, constant monitoring. Through big datathe metrics obtained throughout the course or training are analyzed to determine, case by case, if the evolution is the desired or if changes need to be made, without waiting for the process to end. There is no time to lose. On the other hand, through coaching, the application of what has been learned in the daily life of the employee / student is facilitated. An assigned mentor helps this process, through support, to be as optimal as possible. For this, she uses didactic techniques such as gamification or the 70 20 10 model.
The gamification It doesn’t require much explanation. It is applied in education at all ages and also in training for employees or in distance education or e learning.
For his part, the model 70 20 10 It consists of dedicating 10% of the time to classical, face to face or distance training, 20% to learning from other colleagues or mentors (social learning) and, finally, 70% of the time to work, individually or in a team (practical learning). or experimental).
In short, the Data University of BBVA takes advantage of the technologies that it must teach, big data and Artificial intelligence, so that they are both part of the training program and tools with which to give that training. The result, training future data scientists, analysts and technicians virtually or in person.
Classrooms in Virtual Reality
From the union of 5G, edge computing and Virtual Reality, a new type of classroom emerges. Virtual but with a face to face component that bypasses barriers and physical distances to facilitate the training of employees or anyone. Wherever you are. Some virtual reality headsetsa broadband connection, and little else.
The Union of Telefonica and Nokia has allowed distance classes to be taught at the IE University facilities in Segovia through virtual reality, 5G connectivity and edge computing. On the one hand, with these technologies it is possible to impart theoretical classes in a virtual environment shared by teacher and students. An environment in which to interact from a distance.
A project that the company presents within the framework of the celebration of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona under the slogan Transformation is Now. A place where all the proposals related to connectivity, 5G, connected industry or sustainability will be shared.
In the project of IE University Mobile devices with 5G were used that used cardboard glasses, a cardboard adapter in which to place the smartphone so that it performs the function of virtual reality headset. To retransmit the video signal with low latency, 5G NSA (Non Stand Alone) coverage was deployed in the academic facilities with the Nokia AirScale Indoor Radio (ASiR) solution.
But beyond recreating the traditional classroom through virtual reality, this technology allows interact with the subject matter. Go from home to places that no longer exist or where you cannot be physically, investigate inside virtually recreated machines, etc. All this with the fidelity allowed by helmets that recreate 360º scenarios what have been rendered using edge computing. Furthermore, it is a personalized experience for each student based on their interaction with the virtual environment.
It is clear that the technology plays and will play an important role in education and vocational training and for employees. That they learn to handle it while taking advantage of it in their training to evolve and expand your knowledge It is a challenge but also an opportunity. Personalized training in detailat a distance or in face to face classrooms.
