Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will return to split-screen mode soon

As part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update released on June 25, Treyarch removed the possibility of playing Blackout mode – the version of the game for the Battle Royale genre – in split screen. However, the developer assures that this was something temporary and the option should be activated again on July 9th.

According to a Treyarch representative, the decision to remove the split screen was the result of “known problems” that would have to be resolved by it. “A fix is currently planned for the next major game update on July 9, which is expected to restore the split screen for cooperative players in all Blackout modes,” the company said in a statement sent to Kotaku.

The delay before the option returned to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was explained by the need to change the game’s codes, something that demanded more time from the developers. It remains to be seen whether, with this return, the mode will solve some of the frame rate and lag problems reported by much of the fan community.
