Antutu clone apps are invading the Play Store

Earlier this year, Google removed a number of applications from the Play Storeincluding more benchmark apps from AnTuTu . These apps allowed users to test device performance, but Google cracked down on the tools due to their association with the infamous Cheetah Mobile.

Despite this, to this day it is still possible to download app which they claim to be AnTuTu benchmark from the Play Store, but these are clearly fakes that perhaps carry more risk than the original app.

From removal to March, numerous clones have appeared on the Google Play Store. A simple search for words like “antutu” or “benchmark”Will show pages of results, with many of the apps listed stealing the AnTuTu logo.

Not yet as to whether Google is allowing these fakes to stay on Play Store because they don’t violate the same policies as apps AnTuTu originals or because these apps have not yet been noticed by the team of the Play Store. When many Fortnite clones appeared in 2018, Google stepped in promptly and perhaps will soon do the same for these apps.
